How Do I Order?
Ordering is simple! Browse our selection of A. Wright & Sons Ltd knives, select your preferred model, add it to your basket, and proceed to checkout. You’ll need to verify your age during the process.
What Payment Methods Do You Accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. All transactions are securely processed.
Do I need to create an account to place an order?
No, you can checkout as a guest, but creating an account allows you to track orders and manage purchases more easily.

Shipping & Delivery
How long does shipping take?
Standard Tracked Delivery: 2-4 working days
Express Tracked Delivery: Next working day (if ordered before 2 PM)
Do you offer international shipping?
No, we currently ship within the UK only due to legal restrictions on knife sales.
Why is age verification required for delivery?
UK law requires that all knives be sold and delivered only to those aged 18 or over. Upon delivery, you must provide valid photo ID (passport, driving licence, or PASS card)
Can I have my order delivered to a PO box or parcel locker?
No. Due to age verification laws, we can only ship to residential or business addresses where someone 18+ can accept delivery in person.
What happens if I miss my delivery?
If you're not available at the time of delivery:
✔ The courier will leave a delivery attempt notice.
✔ You can rearrange delivery via the courier’s tracking system.
✔ If the parcel is returned to us, you may need to pay a re-delivery fee.
UK Knife Laws & Legal Information
Is it legal to buy a folding knife in the UK?
Yes, it is legal to buy and own a folding pocket knife with a blade length of 3 inches (76mm) or less and no locking mechanism.
Can I carry my knife in public?
✔ Yes, you can carry a non-locking folding knife with a blade of 3 inches (76mm) or less without needing a specific reason.
❌ No, it is illegal to carry a locking knife, fixed-blade knife, or any knife over this size without a valid reason (e.g., work or religious purposes).
⚠️ Important: While carrying a legal pocket knife is permitted, it is always subject to the circumstances in which it is carried. If law enforcement believes you have it for an unlawful purpose, they can still take action.
Can I carry a knife for self-defence?
No. UK law strictly prohibits carrying a knife for self-defence purposes. Even if it is a legal knife, carrying it for this reason can lead to criminal charges.
What happens if I break UK knife laws?
Illegal possession of a knife can result in:

❌ Unlimited fines
❌ A criminal record
Do you sell locking knives or fixed-blade knives?
No. We only sell UK legal folding knives that comply with the law.

We stock A. Wright & Sons Ltd knives, which are handcrafted in Sheffield, England using high-quality Sheffield steel.
Are all knives handmade?
Yes! Every knife is individually crafted, ensuring a unique character. Due to the handmade process, minor variations in finish, handle grain, or polish may occur.
What are the handle materials?
Our knives feature natural handle materials such as:
✔ Hardwoods
✔ Stag horn
Note: Since these materials are natural, each handle will have unique colour and grain variations.
Do the knives require any cleaning before use?
Yes. As our knives are handmade, they may retain oils or polishing residues from manufacturing.
✔ Wipe the blade with a soft cloth and mild soap before first use.
✔ Apply a light coat of mineral oil to protect the steel.
Knife Care & Maintenance
How should I clean my knife?
✔ Hand wash only – Never use a dishwasher.
✔ Use warm water and mild soap – Avoid prolonged soaking.
✔ Dry immediately – Moisture can cause rust.
How do I keep my knife sharp?
✔ Regularly hone the blade with a leather strop or honing rod.
✔ Use a whetstone for occasional sharpening.
✔ Avoid carbide pull-through sharpeners, as they can damage the edge.
Do I need to oil my knife?
✔ Yes! Applying a light coat of food-safe mineral oil helps prevent rust on carbon steel blades.
How do I care for the handle?
✔ For wood handles, apply beeswax or mineral oil to prevent drying.
✔ Avoid exposing natural handle materials to excessive moisture.
Returns & Cancellations
Can I return my knife if I change my mind?
Yes, you can return unused knives within 14 days of delivery, provided they are in their original condition and packaging.
How do I return an item?
- Contact us for a return authorisation.
- Securely package the knife and return it to our address.
- Refunds are processed once we receive and inspect the item.
Note: You are responsible for return shipping costs unless the item is faulty or damaged upon arrival.
What if my knife is faulty or damaged?
✔ Contact us within 48 hours with photos of the issue.
✔ We will arrange for a replacement or refund where appropriate.
Can I cancel my order?
✔ If your order has not been dispatched, we can cancel it and issue a full refund.
❌ If it has already been shipped, you will need to return the item once received.
